I want my students to dream big, ask questions, and then once they get the answers to ask more questions. I want them to know that they don’t have to settle and that they don’t have to be satisfied. There is an entire world to explore and through my teachings, not only on content but on life I want them to know that there are no limitations as to what they can do.
My approach to teaching is one that appreciates what education is and what it is made to do. I understand the hardships that many of our students go through and face on a daily basis. I know what it means to fail, to struggle, and to overcome. My approach to teaching is one that has a deep root of importance that means more to me than making sure students know what is set by the curriculum.
I often tell my students that to find the correct answer, we must sometimes know what wrong. I say this because so many times my students seem as if they are afraid to say the wrong thing, and I tell them that a part of learning means being wrong at times.
My students appreciate having options and flexibility instead of restrictions and limitations. They appreciate the opportunity to be creative and sporadic and not fenced in and scripted. I make sure that when they come into my classroom, they know that they are going to learn, not “work”.
Philosophy of Education
I believe that education should prepare young scholars for the challenges that are presented throughout life and for whichever career path they so choose. Education should enable students to self-motivation, dedication, commitment, and drive to be successful. I believe that education should have a lasting effect that provides students with a set of tools that they will be able to use and build upon as they continue becoming future leaders until they achieve that.
My role as a teacher has the biggest impact on my students learning because as I said before that education should have a lasting effect, well I know that what I do can and will either positively or negatively. What I do as a teacher should make my students feel like who they are and who they want to become is important.
